Miami 2 Ibiza has been a pretty popular track in the last few months for the Swedish House Mafia. There are a lot of acronyms in this track, and I figured most of them out right away when I was listening, but I had to think (and Google) a couple. So I thought I'd throw a post up to clarify things.
The Swedish House Mafia is composed of three well-known DJ's and producers, Steve Angello, Sebastien Ingrosso, and Axwell. Eric Prydz (also known as Pryda) was also a member of this group for a while, and they all keep a close association, although they technically don't consider him to be a member at the moment since he isn't living in Sweden anymore.
Their latest hit, "Miami 2 Ibiza," has a lot of acronymns, so here are the lyrics and my interpretation of the meanings:
Swedish House Mafia - "Miami 2 Ibiza"
She says she likes my watch, but she wants Steve’s AP
And she stay up all hours watching QVC
She said she loves my songs, she bought my mp3
And so I put her number in my Bold BB
I got a black BM, She got a white TT
She wanna see what’s hiding in my CK briefs
I tell her wear suspenders and some PVC
And then I’ll film it all up on my JVC
Uhh, scene one. Everybody get in your positions.
Pay attention, and listen.
We’re tryna get this in one take, so lets try and
make that happen.
Take one, action!
She pose for FHM, She like my Black LV
We spillin’ LPR, up on my APC
I’m in my PRP's and my Nike SB’s
Ravin’ with SHM, London to NYC
I got my Visa and My Visa
A diva and her dealer
B***h I’m up on the guest list with the Swedish House Mafia
You can find me on a table full of vodka and tequila
Surrounded by some bunnies, and it aint f***ing easter
I wake up in the morning with a mild case of amnesia
With a girl that like a girl like Lindsey Lohan, Queen Latifah
A few n****z are pullin, Yeah guetta must be fever
And that’s standard procedure from Miami 2 Ibiza
(Lyrics Copyright 2010, Swedish House Mafia).
Here's a list of the abbreviations and their meanings:
Steve's AP - Audemars Piguet Watch Company
QVC – Shopping Channel
mp3 – If I have to list this, you shouldn't be reading this blog.
Bold BB - Blackberry Mobile (Bold model)
BM - The MS3 Automobile (Mazda)
TT – Audi TT Automobile
CK – Calvin Klein
PVC - Type of Plastic
JVC - Japanese Electronics Manufacturer
FHM - Mens Magazine
LV – Louis Vitton
LPR – Laurent-Perrier Rose Champagne
APC - French Fashion Brand

Nike SB’s – Nike Skateboarding Shoes
SHM – Swedish House Mafia
NYC – New York City
Just a few clarifications on the above:
MP3 - just about everybody knows what an mp3 is, but do you know why it is those particular letters? It was originally MPEG3 and stands for Motion Picture Export Group standard 3 for audio encoding. But since DOS (MicroSoft's original Disk Operating System) only allowed for 3-letter file extension names at first, it was shortened to MP3.
BM - I'm not positive about the Mazda BM MS3. Maybe it's short for BMW, or for "Beemer."
APC - I don't know about this one either. Most people say it refers to the French fashion brand, but I thought it referred to a piece of live/studio performance equipment that ties in well with Ableton Live, namely Akai's APC40 controller. You can pretend it stands for whatever you want.
